Chair of the Parent Committee
(Volunteer Position)

Candidate Requirements:

• Fluency in Ukrainian, as well as in English or French.

• Must be a member of the non-profit organization “Lesia Ukrainka Ukrainian School of Ottawa” (hereinafter referred to as the Organization).

• Ability to serve in the position for a minimum of two years.

• The Chair of the Parent Committee is elected by a vote of the Organization’s members.

• Experience in a leadership or management role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversees the School’s extracurricular and non-academic activities.

• Plans, convenes, and chairs meetings of the Parent Committee.

• Coordinates and supervises the work of Parent Committee members and collaborates with the School Director.

• Calls special or emergency meetings of the Organization’s members when necessary.

• Assists the School Director in implementing the educational program.

• Responsible for ensuring teachers’ compensation.

• Serves as a representative of the parents.

• Represents the School within the community.

• Oversees and ensures updates to the Organization’s governing documents.

• Plans and monitors the School’s budget execution.

• Engages sponsors and donors to contribute to the School’s budget.
